I wrote two books, in honour of my father who I lovingly called Philosopher Dad.
Dad was a single father raising me & my baby sister – in the coal-mining town of Glace Bay in Cape Breton, NS – while struggling with his own addictions.
He was an amazing person who deserves a legacy of greatness ~ and I’m grateful to have finally published books to honour his memory.
The transition to adulthood can often be a bumpy ride, because we are psychological children trying to fill emotional voids that were not fulfilled at crucial times while we were growing up.
Learning to love ourselves is one of the most challenging things we can do in our lifetime, because of:
- social and cultural conditioning that demands we behave a certain way
- mainstream media messages telling us that we’re never good enough
- an economy that perpetuates slavery to work and debt!
Philosopher Dad offers some mindful wisdom to navigate this often mindless maze of life.
In 2009, I made a decision to stop slowly killing myself. I had spent more than 2 decades in a vocation that was chipping away at my soul while at the same time feeding my alcohol and other drug addictions.
Recovery hasn’t been a linear journey. After many years and many setbacks – I’m finally recovered. I’ve finally created a life I never need to escape from again!
Daily Wisdom from my Philosopher Dad contains a lot of my father’s wisdom, together with my life’s experiences – along with some timeless wisdom that has been passed to me from countless mentors.
When you read the daily message, spend a few minutes of contemplation and write your intentions for the day. Our words are powerful – and our written words can be life transformational.
